Your Attitude, by Dr. Ogi Ressel

Warm hellos to everyone!

In case you wondered - there was no THOT last week. I just finished teaching Module II
in Niagara Falls and simply ran out of time.

Let me make it up to you:
Let me address an issue which has many doctors totally stymied.
Picture this:
Here you are; been in practice for some time already - this is not new to you (I mean,
you've gone through all the new graduate growing pains and all that), you are really good
at what you do, been to all the seminars out there on growing your practice, you've got
all the sales pitches down cold, you are really well versed in all the angles, all the freebies,
all the special offers, and your office is all set. You've got hot and cold running CAs, open
concept, all the vitamins and snake oil a patient could ever swallow, all the orthotics one
could ever hope for, the traction units, the wobble boards, the entrainment tables - you
are ready to rock!
But....it is not happening. This elusive success "thing" just keeps on missing your office.

Ok.......I can hear some of you already; "Out with it, Dr. Ogi.....I can't stand the suspense.
You've just described me down to every detail. What must I do? "
Nothing!
There is nothing you must do!
But....there is something you need to be.

Herein is the problem: Many doctors are sucked into glitzy and expensive marketing and
advertising ploys including flyers, ads, drop-from-the-plane-brochures, appreciation days,
kids-days, and whatever else was expounded at some seminar they took by some guru at
the front of the room.
Forgive me...........I need to divulge for a bit: Take a good look at yellow pages for a
moment. And take a look at all the full page ads attorneys have. What do they speak of?
Yes, you are right - MONEY. That is what that profession seems all about.
Take a look at your glitzy ad: What language does it speak? Yes. Money and desperation.
What message are you sending to your community? That's easy - you need money and you
are desperate.

But....that is not what we are all about is it? We are all about Wellness, helping tons of
children and their parents, and being the antithesis of the standard health care approach.
Somehow we seem to forget that people look at our ads and think: "He/she can't be very
good. He has to market all the time. I don't think I
want to see him."
Is that the message you want your community to get? That you are all about the numbers
and cash? I think not.

Ok...........enough of ranting. Back to my main topic:
"Do as I do" is a common mantra at most of these chiropractic marketing seminars. Part
of the problem is that many of these speakers wouldn't recognize a patient if they tripped
over one in broad daylight. Why?
They haven't seen a live patient in decades. And the stuff that is peddled may have "worked"
25-40 years ago, but it sure as hell does not work the same today. The result is that many
ploys that are taught have been invented because they sound good, but have never been
actually tried - it's all theory.
And you fell for it.
But it should work, right?

Hmmmm........

But in all fairness, that is only part of the problem - you are taught what to do!
The biggest part of the problem is this however: ATTITUDE
Attitude?
Yup. Attitude.

You see, success and wealth is an attitude - and so is failure.
This is a quality that is difficult to teach at a seminar. It is something that wells up from
deep down inside of you and permeates your entire life. It is seen in the way you carry
yourself - your confidence, the glint in your eye, the energy in your face, your bold step,
the certainty in your movement, and the aura you emanate.
The result is that people are attracted to your energy and want to be in your presence.
But....if you are full of failure, would you attract anyone? Even your spouse does not
want to be near you.
(I must interject for just a moment here: If your spouse or CAs have this type of attitude
at the office, please send them home - and that applies to you as well!)
I can see it already: "Where is the doctor, Mary?"
"We sent him home!"
Right.
Listen, you need to get this; ......when they hear music, some people see a funeral, and
others see a parade.
What is the difference?
Attitude.

You see........what you see in the Universe, sees you. What you see around you is a
reflection of you and your attitude.
Those who are doing poorly in practice often expect to do so. It is an expectation. And they
are often not disappointed. Everything in their universe confirms that they should do
poorly - they have every excuse in the book. They are a victim of circumstance - of course.
Those who expect to be amazing - are.
It is an expectation. Again, their universe confirms their attitude. They resonate at a much
higher frequency! Everything is amazing, tons of patients, etc. ...And they are on the same
block as the fellow above!

You have a choice.
And this cannot be faked.
How can you have this winning attitude? I said that it cannot be learned at a seminar, but,
over time, you begin to change  - a result of exposure to many seminars you've attended,
speakers you've heard, books you've read, CDs you've listened to, people you associate with,
the willpower you have, your desire and drive to change, and your mission.

It is my sincere wish that you admit to yourself that your time is now......and you are very
welcome to call me - I'd love to help you get started.
My warmest wishes,
Dr. Ogi Ressel

PS: A few doctors have said that they did not receive my Kids First Pediatric & Family Newsletter
for February. I would be happy to resend it to you, but please check your SPAM or JUNK folders.
It is probably lurking in there.......And unspam me.
Your March issue will be mailed out early this week.

I also have to share some exciting news with you: I have to tell you that I found the most
amazing girl on the planet!
Last year I asked her to marry me and she said YES! Incredible!
So........Leslee and I are heading off to the Land of Florida on February 13th, for our wedding!
We are going on a cruise and we are bringing all our kids with us! And their fiancée's! Nine of us!
WOW!
The wedding ceremony will take place in the chapel on the ship! After the cruise, the kids are
flying home and Leslee & I are planning some quiet time together in South Carolina.
I'll be back in the office on March 8th, ready to rock & roll!
Sherry is at the office to help you with anything you need. Please call her and harass her
regularly!
And......there will be no THOT for a few weeks! Ba, humbug.....
Much love to you all!
